Some of us think at times that we should cry, “Why do you stand afar off, oh Lord? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?”
There definitely are seasons in our life when the brightness of our Father’s smile is eclipsed by the dark clouds of afflictions that we go through. We start grieving at a little withdrawal of our Father’s love. But God never really does forsake us. It is only a seeming forsaking of us.
Can a God who has unfathomable love, unconditional forgiveness and profound longing to save His children really forsake His precious possession? Think of His love and we would recognize that our cries and words of despondency are often dictated by unbelief and distrust. Remember that He has not really forsaken you, and God in the clouds is as much our God as when He shines forth in all the beauty of His grace. So let’s not be disheartened. Instead, “Wait on the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes wait for the Lord” (Ps. 27: 14).
