2 Cor. 5:15: “…. and those who live should no longer live for themselves …”

We have just entered in to a new year 2019, a year that we have not seen, or never faced. It’s good to prepare ourselves to live in a way that is God honoring.

One of those preparations is to take control of our fears and feelings of uncertainty for an unknown future.

2 Cor. 5: 15 says,  “And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again”. We must tell ourselves that we are not our own’.

Remember, we are a purchased possession of our Lord Jesus Christ and He has the right to lead us wherever He pleases. Just as a soldier follows his captain and a servant his master, we must follow the Captain of our Salvation, the Author and Finisher of our Faith, unhesitatingly.

If we are bought with a price, then submission is our duty and quibbling is our folly. Our Lord might say to us even as He said to Peter, “What is that to you? You follow Me” (Jn. 21:22). Even if we do not know where we are going, we know with whom we are going. Wherever He may ask us to go, He goes before us. The road may be long, covered with thorns and stones, but because He leads us, we should follow Christ with the simplicity of faith.

May we obey the Lord unquestioningly, and trust in Him completely, whether in prosperity or adversity, sickness or health, popularity or contempt as He works out His purpose in us, as we follow Him!
