So often people of things seem enduring, but then they are ‘gone with the wind’. We all face being destabilized, not by merely one crisis, but by many, or by a series of changes.
Where, then can we find stability or hope? Is there an anchor to hold on to?
Ps. 93 addresses the topic of ‘stability in the midst of crises’. In the midst of the chaos of this world, there is only one fixed point: ‘the Living God’. Since He cannot be moved, we cannot be moved.
1. STABILITY IN CRISIS BECAUSE GOD REIGNS (Vv. 1-2): The Lord reigns! He is clothed with majesty. His royal garment is not some flattering garment, but it’s His power. Because He reigning with power, the world is firmly established. Because God reigns, we are established, our family, our future, our personal world is established,. As long as God is established, we are not moved.
Find stability in crises because our God reigns with power and majesty!
2. STABILITY IN CRISES BECAUSE OUR GOD IS MIGHTIER (Vv. 3-4):
The floods lift up in rebellion against God and His people (v. 3). The torrents of this world are always against the followers of the Lord. They raise their noise against us. As the whole world is under the influence of the evil one, his evil power tries to stir trouble and disorder against God and His people. They lift up their waves to drown the saints of the Lord.
But ‘the Lord is mightier than the noise of many waters’ (v. 4). When Jesus speaks to the storm, to be still (be muzzled Mk. 1:25; 4:39), The boisterous sea obeys. The disciples say, ‘Even the wind and the sea obey you’.
There is stability in the midst of the storms that are brewing in your life, because God is above all those crises experiences.
Take courage because God is mightier than the many waters, waves that are trying to destroy you!!!
3. STABILITY IN CRISES BECAUSE GOD’S WORD IS TRUE (v. 5):
His testimonies (decrees) are very sure. They are steadfast and trustworthy. “The earth and heaven may pass away, but My word shall never pass away”.
We we can throw our weight upon them and rely on them. They stand, but the world does not.
Our ultimate stability in the midst of crises is in the sure, unchanging Word of God and His promises.
Take courage my ICANJ family!
Let crises come come and go. We will not be moved, because our God does not move. His power is far above the collective power of this world. His Word is as good as Himself.
